Highlighting the “Water and Wastewater Summit”, Baliwag Water District (BWD) has once again staged its OPLAN TUTO (Tubig Umaksyon, Tubig Uminom) on March 21, 2017 at the BWD Multi-Purpose Hall, BWD Extension Building, Col. Tomacruz St., Poblacion, Baliwag, Bulacan.
Intended for the elementary pupils and teachers/moderators, said event was participated by 65 pupils and 21 moderators from the 21 public elementary schools in Baliwag. It seeks to make the participants realize the close connection between water and wastewater and to keep them aware and realize their critical role in protecting and preserving fresh water and in managing wastewater.
Discussions on the close connection between water and wastewater and its impact to our lives and the services and programs provided by BWD to protect such resources and manage wastewater were held during the half-day summit. Various activities showing the hydrologic or water cycle, awareness on possible water contamination and importance of a sustainable community were also staged during the event.
A quiz bee was also held to gauge how well the participants comprehend and learn from the discussions. Out of the 21 participating schools, pupils from the Pinagbarilan Elementary School got the third place, Baliwag North Central School came in second while Tilapayong Elementary School notched the first place.
Simultaneous water drinking challenge on the water supplied by BWD culminated the event.
