Baliwag Water District (BWD) received the Huwarang Lingkod-Tubig Award during the Philippine Water Awards 2017 held on March 22, 2017 at the Quezon City Sports Club, Inc., E. Rodriguez Sr. Blvd., in Quezon City.
Now on its third year, the Philippine Water Awards seek to recognize individuals and groups who made significant and relevant actions towards the protection, preservation and conservation of water resources. One of the highlights is the Huwarang Lingkod-Tubig which is conferred to local water district (LWD) with the best Public Relations and Information Awareness programs based on the World Water Day theme. For this year’s theme, “Water and Wastewater” BWD was one of the three LWDs who received the award for its PR programs related to water and wastewater management program.
Various programs such as the Aqua Warriors Society, Batang Pinoy Groundwater Fiesta, OPLAN TUTO (Tubig Umaksyon, Tubig Uminom), Aqua Patroller Program, Lakbay-Aral Tungo sa Kalinisan at Kaligtasan, publication of various information materials, Water and Sanitation Information Drive, and Kalinga sa Nayon, Organiko ang Solusyon that created huge impact on the increased water consumption, decreased non-revenue water and good reception on its Septage Management Program were the credentials that propelled BWD to bag said prestigious award.
BWD Chair Maria Lourdes Sablan, GM Artemio F. Baylosis and MS. Eloisa E. Ramos received the said award for BWD.
Hosted by Maynilad and the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), the said award is the culminating activity of the World Water Day 2017 celebration.
